DANGEROUS DECISIONS MADE WITH GUT FEELINGS: What NOT to do
Gut feelings are a prominent feature of our daily lives. We often rely on them to make decisions, whether they are big or small. They can be helpful in some circumstances, but they can also lead to poor choices if we are not careful. For instance, gut feelings can prompt us to accept an offer we might otherwise reject if it feels like the right thing to do. They can also cause us to skip important steps that could have prevented an accident, like wearing a seat belt or buckling up a child.
To make better decisions, we need to develop our rational thinking skills and be open to new ideas and different viewpoints. If we don’t, then our gut feelings may cause us to make dangerous or even deadly mistakes!
